About My Classes
AP Studio 3D - This class is the most advanced class that we have for the 3D curriculum. We focus on several different elements. Students will create 5 quality works of art, 10 pieces that focus on a concentration that they will explore in the class, and 10 works that focus on breadth, or a variety of mediums and how to use them.
Introduction to 3D - This is a basic level art class that is a prerequisite for any other art class that we teach. The focus of the class is on building sculptures and artwork by working in the three dimensional plane. Also we will be learning the essentials of a good artwork and how to talk about artwork in the process. Mediums in the class include: clay, wire, foam, yarn, plaster, and other mediums.
Drawing 1 - The focus of this class is to explore a variety of mediums in an effort to learn how to create effective compositions on a variety of scales. We will working with a variety of subject matter in an effort to get a basic understanding on how to draw different objects.
Ceramics and Ceramics 2 - These classes focus on clay and all the different ways to manipulate it. We will be focusing on the handbuilding methods of coils, pinch, and slab construction while getting our hands muddy on the pottery wheel. It is a class where we do get messy!
Sculpture 1 - This is an advanced level class where we look at different ways to create artwork by building using a variety of mediums. We specifically focus on casting, adding, subtracting, and assemblage. Projects include masks, jewelry, wall hangings, and abstract forms just to name a few
